About SearchTriage

SearchTriage is built and operated by me, Lars Jansen. I am its founder, operator, and SEO/GEO specialist.

I started working professionally in SEO when AltaVista was still part of the normal search landscape. Since then, I have built and worked on several high-traffic websites, including modpc.co.nz, which was one of the fastest growing sites in New Zealand's IT market at the time.

SearchTriage grew out of a practical problem: Google Search Console provides useful data, but turning an export into a sensible list of content decisions still takes time and judgement. SearchTriage helps identify which pages may need improvement, which queries deserve attention, and which apparent opportunities are better ignored.

Built through first-hand use

I use SearchTriage on my own sites rather than treating it as a theoretical SEO tool. I am currently dogfooding it while working on search traffic and content decisions for Old Stack Journal, and while improving SearchTriage's own search visibility.

SearchTriage can organise evidence and produce recommendations, but it does not replace editorial judgement. Search data can show where Google is testing a page or where readers may be struggling to find an answer. It cannot decide by itself whether a topic fits the site, whether a page is genuinely useful, or whether a recommendation is worth acting on.

Some parts of the workflow use AI to help classify, analyse, explain, or draft recommendations. Those outputs still need context and human review. SearchTriage is a decision-support tool, not an automatic publishing system(yet). The AI SEO audit explanation describes that boundary in more detail.

How SearchTriage guides are produced

SearchTriage guides are based on direct use of Google Search Console exports, work on the SearchTriage product, and practical content decisions made on real websites.

AI may help with early classification, analysis, or drafting, but the final explanation is reviewed for accuracy, usefulness, and fit. Search data is treated as evidence rather than an instruction to create content.

Where a guide depends on Google Search Console behaviour, export formats, APIs, or reporting definitions, it links to relevant official Google documentation. Product-specific claims are checked against the current SearchTriage application before publication.
